Updated October 2020.

Park Plaza Cardiff’s Laguna Restaurant & Bar offers Afternoon Tea for all occasions, and they’ve teamed up with Hendrick’s Gin to bring a refined and refreshing ‘G & Tea’ twist on a traditional Afternoon Tea.

Park Plaza Cardiff, Hotel Exterior

Located near the New Theatre, Cardiff Castle and the high street, Park Plaza Cardiff is a convenient spot for lunch, dinner or place to stay if you’re visiting the city for a few days.
The decor inside is very chic and modern, yet the simmering wood fires and ambient lighting make it feel very intimate and cosy.

The Hendrick’s gin and tonic is served in a teapot, a very elegant way to enjoy the beverage – pinkies up, of course.

Made with Hendrick’s Gin, elderflower, lemon juice and soda water, it’s a very refreshing and fragrant beverage when paired with a slice of cucumber. The drink also had a light fizz with a flavour I’d compare to parma violets.

Accompanying the cocktail was a three-tier stand of sandwiches, scones and sweets.
We had four thick and fluffy finger sandwiches each with traditional fillings (ham, egg, cucumber and salmon), but if you have a dietary requirement they may be able to accommodate if you let them know when you book.

The top tier had a great selection of bite-size nibbles, including a scrumptious macaroon and summery fruit tartlet filled with a runny custard sauce.

During the warmer month’s you can enjoy afternoon tea out on the terrace with a view of the park, a great way to unwind after loosing yourself in the Cardiff’s nearby museum, art gallery and shopping arcades.

Our sultana scones were served with a generous amount of jam, clotted cream and butter. The lime jelly was topped with a cucumber slice and chantilly cream, a lovely taste and texture to finish the afternoon tea with.

The atmosphere in the Laguna Bar is very relaxed, you may find yourself lingering over the bar with another cocktail or coffee before you enjoy an evening in the Welsh capital.
The Hendrick’s Gin Afternoon Tea is available at Park Plaza Cardiff daily between 12-5:30pm daily, you can book online or call.
