Saturday was the return of the social event of the season, the Polo At The Manor, hosted by the world renowned Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales. With hot sunshine and high fashion in the forecast, I joined in the sporting fun and took some photos to share with you.
If you’ve never been the the Polo before, you’d be surprised how relaxed and accessible it is to newbies. My brother came along for the first time and he was impressed by all the other elements that make up the event; the food and drinks stalls, music stage and picnic parties.
The commentary ensured even those with little polo knowledge could follow along. One thing all spectators would be familiar with however is the divot stomping tradition during half time.
Throughout the afternoon a variety of local music acts like Apple Tree Theory got the crowd dancing. The Only Way Is Essex star Lydia Bright also picked the best dressed male and female from all attendees who were awarded with champagne and a free stay at the Resort.
The social fun also continued into the evening with an after party at the main hotel.
Information about all upcoming events at The Celtic Manor, including July’s Celebrity Cup golf tournament is available on their website. You can see my overview from the 2016 Celebrity Cup by clicking here.
Disclosure: I received complimentary tickets to the event in exchange for this article. All opinions are my own.
