This is guest post by Royal Westmoreland, a world-class holiday provider offering tailor-made breaks to Barbados.
As the birthplace of rum, Barbados has always known how to enjoy a good drink. Today the island has countless watering holes – from rustic rum shacks and beach pubs to fancy wine bars and cocktail joints. Here are some of the best…
The Fisherman’s Pub | Bars in Barbados
A real hit with the locals, the Fisherman’s pub offers an authentic taste of Barbados.
Partly thanks to its unique and unmissable signage, the bar is always full and it always has a fun, sociable atmosphere. There’s often a Caribbean steel band playing too, which adds to the whole experience.
Local, hearty food makes the place stand out from the other pubs – with everything from flying fish and mac pie to plantain on offer, you’re bound to find a Barbadian dish you’ll love.
The pub serves refreshing cool beer too (as you’d hope!), so you can sit in the sun and relax with a refreshing drink.
Mojo | Bars in Barbados
This beach bar will put you in a great mood. The amazing drink selection, lively atmosphere and bizarre decor make sure that everyone has a good time.
Renowned for serving up a huge range of amazing cocktails, Mojo specialises in fun, sun and all-night parties.
They also offer a wide variety of tasty burgers and is popular with tourists and locals alike.
The bar is heavily focused on music, with images of Bob Marley, U2, Jimi Hendrix and many other recognisable faces adorning the walls.
Mullins Bay Beach Bar
You haven’t really experienced nightlife in Barbados until you’ve sat and sipped a few crisp beers on a tropical beach while the sun sets in the distance.
The atmosphere at Mullins Bay Beach Bar is bright and breezy, and the bar area looks out on to the clear blue ocean.
The all-day menu is very popular and reasonably priced, and they host regular barbecues. They also have a huge cocktail list, so you can sample everything from a refreshing Mojito to a local rum-based spiced drink. It really transforms the beach into a place that you can enjoy at night as well as during the day.
Harbour Lights | Bars in Barbados
Harbour Lights is a fantastic and lively nightclub located in Bridgetown, which plays host to tourists and locals alike. It opens up onto the beach and showcases live music, fire dancers and spectacular live shows. If you’d prefer to relax and take in the views, there are plenty of seats stretching out onto the beach, so you can just sit back and enjoy a beer if that’s more your thing.
There’s a wide range of cocktails on offer, with some amazing specials too.
The Tiki Bar
A fun, open-air venue, this bar always has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The Tiki Bar serves up a great range of hot food. You can sample many local dishes here as well as more tourist-friendly meals. Located right on the beach, it’s an ideal place to unwind and enjoy a drink.
It is largely a tourist bar, but as it’s always full this proves that the food and drinks are good enough for holidaymakers to keep returning. It’s also worth mentioning that The Tiki Bar has one of the largest cocktail menus on the island!
