Laguna Kitchen and Bar is Park Plaza Cardiff’s award winning restaurant in the heart of the capital on Greyfriars Road. Stylish cocktails and gourmet dinners are notable offerings, but in this post I’m sharing what you can expect from their popular Traditional Afternoon Tea experience.
For £17.95 per person (£20.95 on weekends), Park Plaza Cardiff’s Traditional Afternoon Tea is good value in comparison to local competition, more so when you consider the sleek setting and classy ambience. If you’d prefer a Champagne Afternoon Tea, add £7, but they are offering a free glass of Prosecco with the Traditional and Gentlemen’s during Afternoon Tea Week (14th-20th August 2017).
Returning visitors to the blog may know I highly rate Park Plaza Cardiff’s Hendrick’s G and Tea, but I do enjoy complimenting cakes with a comforting English Breakfast or Assam tea. There are 10 varieties of speciality tea or coffee to choose from including a Peppermint Rooibos, White Peach Blossom and Jasmine Green.
The four finger sandwiches are thick and fluffy and the sultana scones are large but (thankfully) light on the belly. My only desire is for the sandwich filling to be beefed up a little like the bread.
The dainty pastries and cakes are always a highlight for me with the crumbly lemon meringue, crunchy chocolate torte and fruit tartlet all vying for first place. I finished with the palate cleansing fruit jelly that went down a treat after all that indulgence.
