After a wonderful time exploring some of Wales’ best beaches and restaurants with Visit Swansea Bay last month, I was excited at the prospect of returning when approached by the owner of Promenade View. Located in the charming village-like Mumbles area, this four-bedroom property overlooks the stunning Swansea Bay with beaches, castles and more on its doorstep.
If you’re looking for a brilliant UK break with family or friends, here’s a look inside this fabulous four-star holiday home.
The promotional video shows off the beautiful interior and the lovely local attractions. It was made by my new venture, Nutty Pear in collaboration with Hannah (Miss Nicklin). Click here for more information.
We picked up our keys for Promenade View nearby on Newton Road where the Home from Home business is located, along with a variety of independent retailers, coffee shops and pubs.
First impressions had us both in awe and repeatedly exclaiming “it’s sooo nice!” at the tasteful decor throughout. The sea-facing living room would accommodate the whole family perfectly, there’s even a desk area in the corner for those who can’t pull themselves away from their laptop for too long (wifi available).
The light and airy theme continues at the back of the property with an open-plan kitchen, dining room and patio garden. It’s an ideal space to entertain and enjoy the company of family and friends with a wall mounted television and selection of board games.
A fridge freezer, electric double oven, gas hob, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer are all included (tea bags, coffee granules, condiments, milk and washing tablets were also provided).
Our welcome hamper with locally sourced bread from Olive & Oils Deli as well as welsh cakes and prosecco.
On the first floor you’ll find two of the four bedrooms (three of which are en-suite) and family bathroom. The kingsize bedroom overlooks the sea with well-crafted window shutters and convenient sitting area with TV. There’s also built in wardrobes (hairdryer included) and a luxurious en-suite bathroom with clean towels.
On the second floor is the final two en-suite bedrooms, the double room again offers stunning sea views, plush pillows and soft lighting. The other has two single beds, a roof window, large storage cupboard and TV too.
I really like how the owner has offered plenty of convenient extras like fold away chairs to take out to the garden/beach and leaflets about local beaches, attractions, cafés and restaurants. It’s a stone throw from Mumbles road, so after fuelling up on some cereal we headed around the corner to try one of Trip Advisor’s top local cafés, The Living Room.
After our lovely brunch-stop we window-shopped on Newton Road and soaked up the glorious spring sunshine, local wildlife and views at the nearby Oystermouth Castle.
No trip to Swansea is complete without a stop at Joe’s Ice Cream parlour, again only minutes on foot from Promenade View. Our adventurous side was let loose as we passed Mumbles Pier for the rocky headland where conditions were perfect to gaze across the silky smooth sea towards the English coastline. It’s safe to say we didn’t want to leave this spot and just wished we picked up some fish and chips en route!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Promenade View and wouldn’t hesitate staying here again in the future. As mentioned the location is perfect for exploring the charming Mumbles area or venturing into the Gower which boasts some of the best beaches in Britain like Rhossili (above).
